MADE IN GERMANY - This is how we create our handmade soaps in Düsseldorf
Our soaps offer a high measure of care. We create them in a special cold stirring process. Each of our soaps is handmade therefore one of a kind. Below we’ll show you a few insights of our production process:

1. Preparing suds and oils
The first production step is the preparation of the suds. For that we need liquid (for example distilled water) as well as sodium hydroxide (NaOH). In some soaps, silk, sugar or salt will be added additionally. After that we mix the oils for the soap. For that part the solid fats will get mixed together with the liquid oils. Both the suds as well the oil mixture need to get cooled down to 30-40 degrees celsius.

2. Producing the soap glue
While the suds and the oil mixture cool down we use this time for more preparations. For this kind of soap production it’s important to work quickly, otherwise the soap glue will become solid and the appearance of the soaps would suffer. Therefore we need to prepare all necessary working tools (different containers, mixers, spoons, protection glasses etc.) as well as the needed colours and scents. Now we mix the suds and oil mixture and stir until we reach a pudding-like consistency. Then the scent will get mixed into the soap glue and special color highlights are added.

3. Design and maturation
Here creativity has no boundaries. Again it’s important to work quickly. If the soap glue hardens too fast, we won’t be able to get the special effect required. After the soap glue is poured into the moulds, they get covered and are left to settle for at least 24 hours. We cover our soaps with blankets to isolate them and to give them enough warmth. This encourages the gel phase. This phase will make the colours more vibrant and expressive. After about 24-48 hours we can uncover the soaps to cut them. Now they must be left to ripen for another 4-6 weeks. During this ageing process they will develop their caring effect while hardening completely.

4. Cutting and packing
After the necessary ageing process it is finally time to cut and package the soaps. The good thing about handmade soaps is that each piece is unique in colours, simply individual and one of a kind.
